In addition to his position in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Pedro Fernandez held similar titles with the Cincinnati Symphony and the Houston Ballet Orchestra. He has performed with the Houston, Columbus, Hawaii, and Palm Beach symphonies, Louisville Orchestra, and Florida Grand Opera; and internationally with the National Symphonies of Costa Rica and Panama.
In chamber settings, Pedro has collaborated with Casey Cangelosi, Svet Stoyanov, and PULSUS percussion group as well as a duo project with saxophonist Luis Zuñiga. As a soloist, Pedro played a recital for National Broadcast in Panama, and concertos with the National Orchestra of Panama. Equally comfortable in more popular settings, Pedro has appeared as a percussionist and drummer on music theater shows, latin bands, rock bands, jazz groups, etc.
Pedro has presented clinics/masterclasses at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), Indiana University, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Ball State University, Sam Houston State University, Wright State University and Florida Atlantic University. He has also presented classes at the Escuela Juvenil de Musica and Instituto Nacional de Musica in Panama city, Panama.
Pedro obtained his MM in percussion performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami where he was a Graduate Assistant in charge of teaching private lessons, percussion techniques, and Afro-Cuban hand drumming. In Miami Pedro also coached the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. Pedro obtained his BM in percussion performance from Sam Houston State University.
